Deron Winn is the Head Wrestling Coach at Cherry Creek beginning with the 2025–2026 season. Before joining Cherry Creek, Winn spent six years coaching at Daniel Cormier Wrestling, where he developed athletes —helping more than thirty earn college scholarships. He also served as a USA Wrestling Camp Counselor for seven years, mentoring junior athletes and contributing to national-level training programs.
Prior to turning his focus to coaching, Deron was a decorated athlete. He is a three-time Missouri high school state champion and an NJCAA National Champion, earning Outstanding Wrestler honors at St. Louis Community College before becoming an NAIA All-American at Lindenwood University. He has also competed at the national and international levels in freestyle wrestling, earning wins over elite competitors. Beyond wrestling, Deron has built a successful professional mixed martial arts career, competing in major organizations including the UFC and Bellator.
Assistant Coach Valor Buck brings a strong competitive background and commitment to athlete development to the Cherry Creek wrestling program. A standout high school wrestler from Servite High School in California, Buck was a two-time state placer, Southern Section Masters champion and outstanding wrestler, two-time CIF champion, and two-time First-Team All-Country selection. He was also recognized as a USA Today LA Sports Award finalist for his expectational achievements on the mat.
Following his decorated high school career, Valor continued competing at the United States Air Force Academy before transferring to the Colorado School of Mines, where he currently studies computer science.
Coach Pasternack is a 2014 Cherry Creek High School graduate and a proud product of the Bruins wrestling program. During his time at Creek, he was a two-time All-Centennial League selection and a Colorado State Qualifier. After high school, Hunter continued his wrestling career at the collegiate level, competing for both Southwestern Oregon Community College and Northeastern Junior college. He wrestled at 184 lbs. and 197 lbs., gaining valuable experience that now shapes his coaching philosophy.
The 2025-26 season will be Coach Pasternack's third year with the Cherry Creek wrestling program, where he already helped produce one state finalist and five state qualifiers. Known for his energy and commitment to athlete development, Hunter is a dedicated part of the Bruins coaching staff.
